CNC Scholarship Program
The California Nutrition Corps is a scholarship fund that has been established to support employees of California local WIC programs who are advancing their professional careers within the WIC program. The vision of California Nutrition Corps is to nurture and support individuals with the competency, talent, and dedication that are key to WIC's proven effectiveness. Frontline staff from the community, often graduates of WIC themselves, need more affordable, convenient and achievable opportunities in order to complete their educational goals and professional training.
Recognizing the importance of a work force trained and skilled to support mothers and babies breastfeed, the CNC scholarship program also provides funding for WIC staff and breastfeeding peer counselors to advance their education in lactation.
Funding is provided through generous grants from General Mills and the Vitamin Cases Consumer Settlement Fund (created as a result of an antitrust class action, one of the purposes of the Fund is to improve the health and nutrition of California consumers).
