DESCRIPTION:Join Jenniffer Duran-West for the session From Resistance to Re
 adiness: Counseling Skills at Work Through the Lens of Ambivalence and Com
 passion as she facilitates a dynamic conversation that blends compassion a
 nd counseling techniques to empower breastfeeding educators in supporting 
 families through ambivalence and resistance. Attendees will revisit core c
 ounseling skills through video demonstrations and discussions\, learning t
 o identify stages of change and recognize ambivalence in challenging conve
 rsations. Building on this foundation\, the session explores how the spiri
 t and style of counseling\, rooted in empathy\, collaboration\, and empowe
 rment\, can foster readiness and lasting change. Through case studies\, pa
 rticipants will deepen their understanding of how to support families comp
 assionately as they make infant feeding decisions\, using active listening
  and empathetic communication. Together\, these elements equip breastfeedi
 ng educators with practical tools and confidence to meet families where th
 ey are\, providing effective\, compassionate support that promotes positiv
 e infant feeding outcomes.\n\nObjectives:\n\n 	Demonstrate core counseling
  skills through analysis of video examples and group discussions.\n 	Apply
  active listening and empathetic communication techniques to effectively s
 upport ambivalent families making infant feeding decisions.\n 	Review case
  studies to practice compassionate counseling strategies tailored to famil
 ies’ unique experiences and challenges when determining their infant fee
 ding plans.\n 	Build staff confidence and practical skills to provide educ
 ation that meets families where they are and promotes positive infant feed
 ing outcomes.\n\nCEUs: The California WIC Association will be applying for
