Discover how the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing can drive behavioral changes in an interactive discussion led by Jenniffer Duran- West, CWA’s Program Manager on December 5th from 8:30AM – 12:00PM Pacific Time. Please note, this webinar is designed as a 3.5 hour training for new WIC team members (including BF Peer Counselors, WIC Nutrition Assistants, Degreed Nutritionists, Registered Degreed Nutritionists, IBCLCs and others on the WIC team) that lack experience in motivational interviewing, or may need a refresher.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how the basics of Motivational Interviewing (micro skills and spirit / style) help guide the parent’s behavioral change.
- Describe how nutrition education or breastfeeding /chestfeeding topics can be discussed by establishing a connection and building rapport with a parent through the lens of Motivational Interviewing skills
- Identify four Motivational Interviewing techniques/skills that support starting the behavioral change conversation
The California WIC Association is offering a maximum amount of 3 units for RDN (CPEUs) and IBCLC/CLC/CLEC (Cerps). RDN CPEUs are pending approval by CDR, Provider Number CA004. Provider approved by the IBLCE, Long Term Provider Number CLT115‐01.
