Discover how the fundamentals of Motivational Interviewing can drive behavioral changes in an interactive discussion led by Jenniffer Duran- West, CWA’s Program Manager. Please note, this webinar is designed as a 3.5 hour training for new WIC team members (including BF Peer Counselors, WIC Nutrition Assistants, Degreed Nutritionists, Registered Degreed Nutritionists, IBCLCs and others on the WIC team) that lack experience in motivational interviewing, or may need a refresher.
Objectives:
- Understand how the basics of Motivational Interviewing (micro skills and spirit / style) help guide the parent’s behavioral change.
- Describe how nutrition education or breastfeeding /chestfeeding topics can be discussed by establishing a connection and building rapport with a parent through the lens of Motivational Interviewing skills
- Identify four Motivational Interviewing techniques/skills that support starting the behavioral change conversation
