The Value of WIC Worksite Wellness

In April 2009, the California WIC Association (CWA) launched the WIC Worksite Wellness program to support the well-being of California WIC’s 3,000-3,500 employees. The program integrates a practical approach to health and nutrition, incorporating nutrition and health messages that staff share daily with WIC families.

Wellness extends beyond the absence of illness, embracing physical, emotional, social, and intellectual health through informed choices. Encouraging stretch breaks, walking meetings, nutritious snacks, and wellness activities helps employees and their families adopt healthier habits naturally. And, the Worksite Wellness program promotes workplace policies that support healthy habits and foster a culture of lifelong wellness.

The WIC Worksite Wellness program helps local WIC agencies achieve and maintain Well WIC Worksite certification by providing support and guidance, empowering them to create healthy worksites. It promotes staff engagement in healthy behaviors and activities year-round.

The Wellness Coordinator will oversee the Worksite Wellness program implementation.
